Artificial dental implant, also known as implant denture, is a bionic tooth made of biological materials. Dental implant practice models are divided into two parts: the implant implanted in the human jaw, which plays a supporting and fixing role (i.e., the root part of the tooth) and the crown of the tooth that bears the function of chewing. According to the changes of the alveolar bone and jaw bone after the loss of the tooth, the doctor selects a certain shape of the implant to be implanted into the jaw as the artificial root, and then the crown is installed on the implant pile exposed in the mouth to obtain the shape and function similar to the natural tooth. The dental implant models are to simulate the operation and explain the process of implant denture.
Compared with traditional dentures, artificial implants have many outstanding advantages:
its chewing function is much better than the traditional denture;
It has strong retentive force and stability, and can be rooted in the patient's mouth like a real tooth, which is conducive to bone preservation;
less grinding or not grinding their own teeth;
There is no need for movable denture base and clappers, and no taste retardation and discomfort caused by large plastic base;
small size, comfortable, beautiful, good for maintaining oral hygiene. Research shows a five-year success rate of more than 90 percent.
With the application of various kinds of oral implant, implant models and bone graft techniques and materials, the continuous improvement of implant system, and the development of imaging technology and digital technology, at present, all patients with single tooth loss, multiple teeth loss and edentulous jaw can theoretically receive implant repair treatment.

The process of placing a dental implant model includes several steps as mentioned below:
step 1: remove damaged tooth.
step 2: jawbone preparation (grafting) if needed.
step 3: dental implant placement.
step 4: bone grows and heals.
step 5: place abutment.
step 6: artificial tooth placement.
The dental implant model is considered to be the best option to replace missing or damaged teeth. The procedure itself is without pain because the dental implant is performed with general or local anesthesia to completely numb the mouth. After the dental implantation and the numbness wears off, the patient may have a sense of mild pain in their mouth.
There are three common types of dental implant models in dentistry. The first one is the endosteal implant that is said to be the most common type of dental implant. It is fused straight onto the jawbone and provides an alternative to permanent dentures or bridges. The second one is the subperiosteal implant. And the third one is the subperiosteal implant. In a general way, endosteal is the safest and most common, followed by subperiosteal, and then zygomatic being the last and most complex.
Dental implant practice models are designed for the School of Dental Medicine to teach students exercises and understandings such as: dental procedures, bone implant drilling. Gain training experience in operating with dental implant training models.
